10 Questions with Ed Begley Jr.Robbie Rozelle: We all know you from Six Feet Under and St. Elsewhere... but what is your favorite obscure role? Ed Begley Jr.: Stumpy-Joe Peeps. The first drummer in "Spinal Tap"
EB: A living nightmare. She's always stealing my lunch. And my wallet. RR: You have an association with David Mamet, starring in Cryptogram and The Old Neighborhood. His work is very different from Christopher Durang. How did you approach Christopher's style? EB: With great respect, since he was in the room. RR: What challenges did you face acting in a studio vs. acting onscreen or stage? EB: I greatly prefer Voice-over work, owing to the lenient dress-code. They usually allow me to work nude. RR: You are very involved with environmental issues. What do you feel is the most important thing we can do to protect our environment? EB: Stay out of your automobile, as much as possible. No joke. RR: You just finished up A Mighty Wind, the latest Christopher Guest movie. What's it about and who do you play? EB: It's about the folk-music scene. I play "Lars Olfen", a public television producer. RR: Ironically, Christopher Guest did the movie version of Beyond Therapy. Did you see the film before going into the studio? EB: No. RR: You also did ROMAN HOLIDAY with Tom Conti, who plays your role in the film. Do you have a favorite role in a film or tv series? EB: The hotel manager in "Best In Show" RR: In Beyond Therapy, you play a therapist with some, uh, problems of his own. I'm gonna go out on a limb and assume you have NOTHING in common with your character? EB: Other than trying to get my guests to recline on a couch.....absolutely nothing. RR: What is currently in your cd player? EB: Enrique Iglesias' "Escape" RR: Are there any plans for you to come to Broadway anytime soon? EB: Not in the foreseeable future. © 2004 Ghostlight Design |
