Hello Everybody!
First of all, thank you so much for the congratulatory
notes and emails. Robbie has been keeping me updated
and I am so moved by all your kind words. I think I
am still in shock from Sunday. I wish I could describe
accurately the surprise and joy I felt when they
called my name. It was a moment I had dreamed about
since I can remember but never fully believed would
happen. To look out into that HUGE house and see my
husband beaming back at me and my incredible (and 90
year old) director on his feet clapping with his hands
over his head is a moment I will never forget as long
as I live.
Last night (Tuesday) at the show we had
SUCH an amazing audience. I am embarrassed to say that
when I came out and heard their incredible entrance
applause I could not help but cry! I was trying so
hard not to but I was simply overwhelmed by the love
they were sending us. You could literally feel it
rolling on to the stage. Anyway, many thanks to all of
you who make live theater possible. This artistic
endeavor more than any other (in my opinion) relies on
the connection between the audience and the performers
and there would be no performers, no show, no Tony
awards without YOU!
Many Blessings and many thanks,
Laura
ps...I didn't write an acceptance speech and am sad to
say in my flurry of emotion I failed to thank my dear
friend Robbie. Thank you Robbie and please forgive me
for the egregious error!!
